| Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative disease. In recent years, ferroptosis, a novel form of cell death, has gradually attracted attention regarding its potential role in OA. Although existing studies suggest that ferroptosis may play an important role in the pathological process of OA, research in this field is still in its early stages, and the relevant mechanisms remain unclear. The literature search method in this paper includes searching for research literature related to the keywords "ferroptosis" and "osteoarthritis" in databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, filtering relevant research findings from the past five years. This paper summarizes the relationship between ferroptosis and OA, focusing on the roles of iron metabolism, oxidative stress, and cell death in OA, and analyzes the shortcomings and challenges in current research. Future studies should focus on exploring the specific mechanisms of ferroptosis in OA, developing relevant biomarkers, and investigating the potential of targeted therapies for ferroptosis in OA, aiming to provide new ideas for clinical treatment. |
