| TREM2 is a pivotal immune receptor that critically regulates bone metabolic homeostasis by modulating the differentiation and function of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. However, considerable debate surrounds its precise role in bone metabolism. The loss of function of TREM2 paradoxically manifests as reduced, increased, or normal bone mass. This review synthesizes current research advances of TREM2 in bone metabolism, aiming to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and to reconcile these conflicting findings. |
